The great thing about Facebook is I can keep in touch with old friends via computer, rather than just picking up the phone and talking to them. A friend of mine (real friend, not just a Facebook friend) contacted me on my "wall" recently from his "wall" in North Carolina, asking if I had heard the news reports from WCNC News of the June 2010 sightings in Cleveland County, North Carolina.
Indeed, I had read of the events from Google News and was excited to learn more about it. I eventually watched the video recreation of the hillbilly describing how he'd scared off Bigfoot by shouting something like, "Git, ya hear?!" or maybe it was "Get yer gear" I'm not really sure, but it was threatening.
It's not as if I don't believe the guy on the video. I think he's legit and the details of Bigfoot trying to steal his chickens is consistent with other reports. However, it was a bit creepy when the man described Bigfoot's "beautiful long hair" as if he wondered what kind of natural shampoo and conditioner the beast uses. Honesty, I do believe this man's statement...he's just a colorful character we meet when do this kind of research. You can listen to the 911 call here.
Researchers Come Out of the Woodwork (or at least out of the woods)
As of this writing on July 13, 2010 a well-known Bigfoot researcher, Mike Greene as resurfaced with renewed interest in the case. Greene, 68, has admitted to investing as much as $75,000 on gear and cameras over the years for his research and he's known among Bigfoot researchers as the guy who recorded pretty decent thermal images of Bigfoot and then tried to make money on his website bushloper.com from each person who viewed the green glowing images. (Can you blame the guy for trying to make a dollar, after he's invested $75,000 in equipment?)
Anyway, Mike knows what he's doing and from recent news reports he's out walking the woods. This is exciting because it's not often you get somebody with right experience, the right equipment in the right location. Let's hope Greene captures good thermal so locals can get a bit of rest: "Mike we're rooting for ya, you git, ya hear?!"
