Bigfoot: Is It a Subterranean Species?

This past weekend I as on a bigfoot expedtion with with a friend of mine where we met a family livingin the upper Midwest of the U. S. that as had several sightings of two different Bigfoots / Sasquatches this past year. The most recent sighting was by their 4-year-old son just days before our expedition.

A Description of the Bigfoot Sighting

The boy was sitting in a pickup truck at dusk while his father was tending to a fire of burning brush at the back of their farm property, when the boy shouted, "There's a man over there!" The father couldn't see anybody over the bright glow of the fire and quickly walked to where his son was pointing. He saw nothing unusual and told his son to roll up the windows and lock the truck while he worked the fire.

Again the boy shouted, "There's a man right over there..." and when the father returned to where his son was pointing and saw nothing (the nearest farm is a mile away) and when he questioned the boy, the father realized it was another Bigfoot sighting on the edge of his property. This family has now seen at least two different Bigfoots roaming their land and forests four different times.

Bigfoot videos are a dime a dozen. You can find thousands of them on Youtube and type in the search "Bigfoot videos" on Google and you'll get more the 1,500,000 results. The question I keep getting from readers is, "Where are the best videos that actually prove Bigfoot exists?" Bigfoot Evidence: What Are Those Stick Structures in the Forest?

If you're researching Bigfoot in the forest, one piece of evidence that's difficult to ignore are unusual stick structures. If you come across a trail with threes in a criss-cross pattern (sometimes called "Gaits" by researchers) then you're probably on the trail of a Bigfoot.

Another form of stick structure is something more intricate that resembles a Tee Pee made of large tree branches --- sometimes too large for humans to move. I recently received a photograph from a researcher in Washington state who has become a Bigfoot enthusiast and she sent the this photo. This is a classic Bigfoot structure.

What Do Stick Structures Mean?

Okay, the quick an honest answer is, nobody in the Bigfoot community really knows. There are a few theories about Bigfoot stick structures that seem to make sense. For example, Gaits are either meant to prevent humans from continuing along a trail or it's possible that Gaits are meant as a sign to other Bigfoots that humans frequent the same trail.

Tee Pees are rarely large enough to function as a dwelling for Bigfoots, so the theory is that they serve as major landmarks for navigation or they have a ceremonial aspect to them. This Tee Pee from Washingnton is spectacular.

Other stick structures are more subtle,  such as "Tallboy Trails." These are trails in the forest, usually in tall grass, lined with Poplar trees where the branches of the Poplars are broken and twisted. The theory here is that Bigfoots wade through the grass and trees and break and twist the branches out of the way as a metho of trailblazing.

As you hike through your local forest, watch for stick structures. You'd be amazed at how often they appear when you know what to look for. The one problem with stick structures is that, unlike footprints, they don't give you any indication of how long they've been there.  A Gait or Tee Pee could've been placed by a Bigfoot year prior to your arrival. So unless you frequent the forest often and know the trails well, it will be hard to pinpoint when the structure was placed by Bigfoots.
